Pipeline Inspection Safety

Pipeline Inspection Safety is an everyday priority for us at Onyx Services. All field personnel are trained and evaluated using protocols and programs established by several different organizations, including NCCER, VeriforceOQSG, ADCI, Houston Area Safety Council, CSCCB, DSWG, NCMS, ISNetworld, and OSHA.

With safety as the #1 priority for our employees and our clients, no project is designed, engineered or bid without a formal review by our safety professionals. Onyx Services has earned a reputation in the industry as a leader in safety because our team proactively identifies and eliminates every potential HSE risk (Health, Safety, and Environment). Our safety record is among the best in our industry.

We ensure that all personnel are trained in every aspect of commercial diving and occupational safety. Our safety team provides up to date operating and safety manuals along with project specific procedures. We follow safety management guidelines such as Risk Assessment, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Management of Change (MOC). Our team complies with all statutory, governmental, industry and customer rules, regulations and best practices.

ADCI – Association of Diving Contractors International – Establish industry-wide safety standards for commercial diving.

Houston Area Safety Council – Help build safer workplaces by improving the quality and integrity of the workplace through several training programs.

Contractors Safety Council of the Coastal Bend – Deliver safety training and site-specific job safety orientations to contractors and employees of area (Corpus Christi, TX) refining and chemical plants.

NCCER - The National Center for Construction Education and Research – Develop standardized construction and maintenance curricula and assessments with portable credentials.

Veriforce – Help oil and gas operators and contractors achieve and maintain compliance with government safety regulations.

USGoM DSWG – U.S. Gulf of Mexico Diving Safety Work Group – Provide a unified voice of oil and gas operators, transmission companies, commercial diving companies, supporting sub-contractors, organizations and industry stake holders, to promote and improve diving safety.

NCMS – National Compliance Management Consortium – Provide a qualification process for contractors and ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements of DOT/PHMSA (Pipeline and Hazardous Materials and Safety Administrations)

ISNetworld – Streamline the processes of maintaining safety, insurance, quality, and regulatory information on contractors and suppliers.

OQSG – Operator Qualification Solutions Group – Provide full experience computer-based training and knowledge-based assessments for surface and underwater tasks.

TWIC – Transportation Worker Identification Credential – a security measure ensuring workers are background checked and do not pose a threat to the nation’s maritime transportation system.

OSHA – Occupational Safety and Health Administration – Federal organization created to assure safe and healthful working conditions by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education, and assistance.

Onyx Services utilizes Pipeline Testing Consortium and is monitored by NCMS (National Compliance Management Consortium). Our entire field personnel are annually and randomly drug and alcohol tested as well as background checked. Additionally, we not only meet but exceed all our client’s insurance requirements.


With this preparedness and training, Onyx Services has had zero accidents to date.
